Norwegian Cruise Line crew members always take excellent care of every single guest, especially when guests choose to celebrate important milestones on board.

When 100-year-old “birthday girl”
Mrs. Zara Holtz boarded Norwegian Sky
on New Year’s Day for a three-day Bahamas
& Florida cruise with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, she had no idea the crew
on board would surprise her with the birthday celebration of a lifetime. To help her celebrate her monumental 100th birthday, Norwegian Sky’s more than 2,000 guests were invited to the pool deck for a special sail-away party. Master Ice Carver Ronaldo demonstrated his skills as he transformed an enormous block of ice into a huge “100.” Then, Mrs. Holtz was brought on stage, presented with a birthday cake and saluted by her cruise family — a ship full of guests, officers and crew who all sang “Happy Birthday” in her honor. Mrs. Holtz was not expecting a birthday celebration on board, especially one as large as this. On board Norwegian, milestones come in all sizes, from a 2,000-guest birthday bash to a shared smile between two people. In 2010, Erin Picard and Todd O’Neill went from strangers to sweethearts aboard a Norwegian Spirit cruise between Boston and Bermuda, thanks to a little helpful matchmaking from Reynaldo “Rey” Atizado, a bar waiter on board Norwegian Spirit.

At the start of the cruise, Todd jokingly asked Rey if he knew of any nice women on board. Rey, not skipping a beat, walked directly to Erin and her friend and introduced them to Todd and his friend, and that’s where their love story began.

First comes love; then comes marriage.
To celebrate and congratulate the happy couple, Norwegian presented Erin and Todd with the ultimate wedding gift, a dream European honeymoon. The newly minted Mr. and Mrs. will return to the ship where they fell in love, Norwegian Spirit, for a 12-Day Grand Mediterranean voyage from Barcelona to Venice. “We are so excited to be going back on board the ship where we met and to visit such romantic destinations in Europe,” said Erin. “We wouldn’t
have been able to take a honeymoon right now,
so we are so thankful and thrilled.
